Supporting your child with learning at home

We recognise that an active educational partnership between home and school is fundamental in ensuring that children achieve – spiritually, morally, socially, culturally, and academically. Setting and suggesting home-learning opportunities is just one of the ways in which we seek to foster this partnership. Home-learning encompasses a whole variety of activities, instigated by teachers and parents, to support children’s learning and achievement.

There are many ways in which you can support learning at home and below is a list of possibilities;

• Supporting your child to complete their home-learning.

• Reading their school reading book and chosen library book (or reading anything!).

• creative activities such as those linked to Cornerstones projects.

• Playing games that encourage English and maths learning (monopoly, bingo and scrabble are just a few examples).

• Trips and visits – just getting outside.

• Doing ‘jobs’ together like cooking, shopping and gardening.

• Get online (safely). There are so many educational websites out there!

Each term your child will have the chance to complete an at-home Curriculum Maestro project, which they can bring in and share with their class. Maths and English homework will be available on EdShed each week and you can find instructions on how to use this software below.
